In April 2007 we wrote to the President and the Prime Minister of Poland protesting at repressive policies they were pursuing. We copied our letter widely, as shown, and received an uninformative reply. Early in September 2005 the cultural editor of Jyllands-Posten commissioned twelve cartoonists to draw cartoons of Mohammed, being motivated by the difficulties that Danish writer K re Bluitgen had finding artists to illustrate his children’s book about Muhammad. The cartoons were published by Jyllands-Posten in late September 2005. Two weeks later nearly 3,500 people demonstrated peacefully in Copenhagen.
