The Bill to give legal status to Humanist weddings passed all stages in the Dáil on Thursday, December 20th 2012. Having already passed all stages in the Seanad, it is now set to be signed into law by the President.

This public hearing was organised on 15 November 2012 at the European Parliament. It was part of EHF campaign "Keep Dogma Out of Research" aimed at removing religious restrictions from EU policy on research. It gathered Eu decision makers, scientists and lawyers around 100 participants.

On 27 Nov. 2012, EHF President Pierre Galand took part to the annual meeting between the three presidents of the European Union (Commission, Council and Parliament) and leading non-confessional organisations in Europe.

On 14 November 2012, the European Parliament President met several representatives of churches and non-confessional organizations, including the European Humanist Federation (EHF) and the Belgian Centre d’Action Laïque (CAL) for a dialogue meeting on “intergenerational solidarity”.

On 13 November 2012, Tonio Borg was heard by the members of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. Prior to this hearing, the European Humanist Federation together with other NGOs, had made clear it had serious concerns regarding Mr Borg’s nomination as the new Commissioner responsible for Health and Consumer Policy.
