In a UN meeting very well attended by anti-choice organisations, the EHF and IHEU urged the UN Human Rights Committee to reaffirm that the right to life begins at birth and not at conception. Humanists called upon the Committee to recognize that safe and legal abortion and legal assisted suicide/euthanasia are compatible with the protection of the right to life.

In a landmark vote, the European Parliament adopted yesterday a resolution calling for an EU Strategy on women’s rights and gender equality. The EHF strongly condemns a recent attack on Å½eljko PeratoviÄ‡, journalist and vice president of our member organisation the Center for Civil Courage. He was severely beaten, suffocated and hit in the head which left an open wound on his forehead (...)

This year, European Humanists met in Athens for EHF annual General Assembly. This meeting was the opportunity to shed light on the shameful Greek "blasphemy" law and to support humanist activists struggling in advancing freedoms and rights in the country.
