Alliance Defending Freedom


One of the largest conservative Christian legal advocacy organisations in the world.


Formerly known as the Alliance Defense Fund, it runs Legal Fellowship programmes to train new generations of Christian lawyers to fight for the conservative Christian agenda (against sexual and reproductive health and rights, against euthanasia, against LGBTI rights). It is active in the United States and has a European office in Vienna.

Roger Kiska: former legal counsel of the European Center for Law and Justice [link] and head of the European office.

Kiska has written for the Center for European Renewal, Turtle Bay and organises meetings with groups such as Ordo Iuris [link] (in particular an OSCE HDIM side event advocacing for absolute consciencious objection of institutions).

He also stated that “Those who dare challenge the cultural orthodoxy of the day by speaking on behalf of the family, against homosexual behaviour, for life and for religious freedom are losing their jobs,being fined and even going to prison.” (1)

Vice-chair of the Christdemokraten für das Leben, Former Head of Operations at World Youth Day, Executive Director of European Dignity Watch, she stated that “sexuality only in a certain order has its proper place, namely in the marriage of a man and woman, in which there is the possibility of passing on new life. Homosexuality is thus always in deficit.” (1)

Financing: Primarily financed by donations but also from court awarded fees, court contributed services and investments.
